Between forums

No forum is on right now.

Past editions stay open. Read their programmes and ask the Companion what they concluded.

Every answer cites the programme or archive passage it comes from.

The forum app

Everything for the forum, one tap apart.

Open the app on your phone during the forum. The round button at the bottom switches between tools.

What's on

Programme

See what's on now and next, filter by day or track, and read about each session and its speakers. Times are always the forum's local time.

Ask anything

Companion

Ask about the programme, the speakers and the forum's papers, in your own language. Every answer shows its sources, so you can check them.

Your voice

Ask The Panel

Send a question to a session's panel in your own language. If someone already asked it, add a Me too so it rises up the list.

Meet

Networking

Opt in with a short profile and the topics you work on. The app suggests participants who share your interests, and you can message them to meet during the forum.

On the panel

Oracle

A contributor on the panel that raises the questions the discussion has not reached yet. A forum operator approves each one before it is heard, and it keeps to the Chatham House Rule: it never names who said what.

Your view

Surveys

Answer the organisers' short surveys when they open, now or later. Mandatory ones come first; your answers are kept until you send them.

Also in the app: participants can search the forum's papers and reports, including those from earlier editions.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Register for the forum

The forum app is for registered participants. Use the invitation you received by email to create your account, or register on the forum's page.

  2. Step 2

Open the app on your phone

It runs in your browser, so there is nothing to install. Choose your language once and the app remembers it.

  3. Step 3

    Find, ask and meet

Find what's on, ask the Companion, put your questions to the panel and meet participants who share your interests.

Under the hood

From your question to a checked answer.

How the Companion finds its answers, and how you meet the people worth meeting.

Companion

Answers you can check.

Ask in your language. Companion searches the programme and the forum's papers, writes an answer and cites what it used. Tap a citation to read the exact passage, or open a session or speaker.

  • Answers only from the forum's own sources
  • Cites the passage behind every claim
  • Understands follow-up questions
On your phone

A conversation, not a search box.

Open the forum app, tap the round button and choose Companion. Here is what a participant sees.

  1. 1Ask in your own wordsType in any of the eight languages, the way you would ask a colleague.
  2. 2Watch the answer arriveIt appears as it is written, with numbered sources at the end.
  3. 3Tap a source to check itThe original passage opens, so you can read it in full.

Your conversations are kept, so you can come back to them during the forum. To put a question to a panel instead, switch to Ask The Panel with the same round button.

And between sessions

Networking

Meet the people worth meeting.

Opt in with a short profile and the topics you work on. Tana Forum suggests participants who share your interests, and you can message them in the app to set up a conversation during the forum.

  • Only people who opt in are shown
  • Suggestions based on shared topics
  • Messages stay inside the app

Built for trust

Serious about sources, access and language.

A high-level forum on security needs more than a chat window. These are rules the platform enforces, not promises.

  • Respected

    The Chatham House Rule

Where a session runs under the Chatham House Rule, the app keeps to it: what the Oracle raises and the panel's questions never name who said what.

  • Access

    For registered participants

The forum app is made for the people taking part. Organisers decide who can read each paper: everyone, participants or staff only.

  • Sources

    Every answer cites its source

The Companion answers only from the forum's programme and papers, and links each claim to the passage it came from.

  • Privacy

    Closed-door stays closed

Closed-door sessions are never listed for the public, and nothing said in them reaches the Companion.

  • Language

    Eight languages, every script

Amharic, Arabic, English, French, Hausa, Portuguese, Somali and Kiswahili, with right-to-left and Ethiopic script done properly.

  • Simple

    Nothing to install

The app runs in the browser on any phone or laptop. Scan the code, choose your language once, and you are in.
